A Free Online Presentation Editor That Doesn't Upload Your Files

DeckEdit is a free, browser-only presentation editor — and a free NotebookLM-to-PowerPoint converter. Build, edit, and theme every slide 100% locally in any modern browser. No login. No upload. No subscription.

Two ways to use the editor

Edit a PDF or scanned image

Drop in an image-only PDF or a screenshot. DeckEdit runs OCR locally, places real editable text on top of the original layout, and exports a PowerPoint where every word is selectable.

Author a presentation from blank

Start from an empty 1920×1080 canvas. Use 11 block templates, the layout library, and the theme system to build a presentation — then export to PPTX, PDF, or PNG.

What You Can Actually Do, Today

Every capability listed here ships in the current build. No promises, no roadmap items.

Multi-deck library with autosave

Decks live in your browser's Origin Private File System (OPFS) as the single source of truth. An IndexedDB-backed index gives you fast listing and thumbnails. Autosave runs every 1.5 seconds. Inline rename. Switch between decks without losing work.

Block-based slide composition

A palette of 11 ready-made block templates (text, heading, list, callout, and more) you can drop onto any slide. A library of pre-composed slide layouts for fast deck assembly.

Theme system

Apply, swap, and customize visual themes — color palette and typography — across an entire deck in one click.

Direct-manipulation canvas

A 1920×1080 canvas powered by React-Konva. Drag, resize, rotate, and snap-align elements. Multi-select. Zoom and pan with Ctrl+scroll, drag, or touch.

WYSIWYG inline text editing

Click any text element to edit it in place. The overlay textarea mirrors the canvas font, size, and color exactly — what you type is exactly what renders.

Undo / redo with 50-snapshot history

Command-pattern history tracking diffs and full-state snapshots. Keyboard shortcuts with active-element guards so they never fight your text input.

Real PowerPoint export

Every block, region, and theme element is exported as a real PowerPoint object — fully editable in PowerPoint, Keynote, and Google Slides.

Common Questions About the Editor

Is DeckEdit a real slide editor or just a converter?

Both. DeckEdit ships a full browser-based slide editor (multi-deck library, block templates, themes, direct-manipulation canvas, undo/redo, PPTX export) AND a NotebookLM-to-PowerPoint converter. They share the same canvas and export pipeline.

Can I edit a deck without uploading anything?

Yes. DeckEdit runs entirely in your browser. Decks live in OPFS (Origin Private File System) on your device. Nothing is uploaded to any server.

Do I need an account?

No account, no email, no sign-up. Open the editor and start working.

What can I export?

Real PowerPoint (.pptx) where every block, region, and theme element is a true PowerPoint object — fully editable in PowerPoint, Keynote, and Google Slides. PNG and PDF export are also available for the image-edit workflow.

How is this different from Alai, Gamma, or Beautiful.ai?

Alai, Gamma, and Beautiful.ai require an account, upload your slides to their cloud servers, and lock real editing behind subscriptions. DeckEdit is free forever, runs 100% locally in your browser, and never uploads a single file. You get a true direct-manipulation slide editor, multi-deck library, themes, undo/redo, and clean PPTX export — with privacy and zero cost built in from the first click.

Does it work offline?

Yes. After the first load, models are cached in your browser. The editor and converter then work fully offline.
